Tonight will be the opening of an art exhibition in which I am taking part. The opening will take place at gallery “The Red House” in Tel-Aviv
I will be exhibiting a selection of art works made by me, out of a larger series.
The name of the series: A place of her own
This series comprises paintings and drawing on paper as well as on recycled slates of wood. The history of the wood, its stains, dirt and sometimes the inscriptions on it, become part of the painting.

I employed a similar world of images in all the works, creating a unique and personal language. This language is made of trees, water, animals and human beings in a nonspecific landscape.
The scenes in my work are enigmatic. Skeletons of tall, narrow trees – usually without leaves. Stumps often submerged in water, creating an impression of a floating or sinking world. Animals in motion and humans, usually on their own, in the vastness of nature.
The scenes in the paintings imply a conflict or a contradiction in terms. In one painting a boat is depicted side by side a cage of birds. These elements suggest freedom and space on the one hand and a prison sentence on the other.
There are paintings of women or angels flying, but their bodies are tangled with ropes and chains. This contrast contributes to a tense atmosphere and a feeling of unease and danger.

Through many layers of ink, intuitively laid one on top of the other, a world is created in which the hidden is greater than the visible. The viewer is invited on a journey of exploration of color and shape, which is party an imaginary and partly realistic.
I will also be exhibiting an artist’s book which is a series of small works bind together. This book is a synthesis of two methods which are seemingly contradictory: Broad gesture made intuitively with ink, and on top of that thin meticulous drawing made with marker .
