Art – Women on horseback

African wooden sculpture

Every morning, as I stumble into the bathroom, this women positioned there makes me smile.

Why is she holding her breasts?

Is she also contemplating her lifestyle after turning  40?

Edwin, my husband purchased this wooden sculpture more then 10 years ago in Conakry, Guinea

Is she presenting her breasts to the viewer as a West African fertility figure on perhaps in a welcoming gesture?

All I know is that when I wake up in the morning and see her,

I celebrate being a women!
